Illustrator Sarah Howell came and visited the Grade 3s today. She demonstrated her techniques in creating drawings of faces showing different emotions. Check her illustrations out below.

We also checked out http://www.grimace-project.net to see different facial expressions that people may make over time. Loads of fun!

Quality Blogging Comments

3A and 3AG have been exploring what a blog is and what one could be used for. We viewed the clip (below) to discover the purpose of a blog.

What is a Blog?

Our classes then looked at what keeps a blog alive and interactive… comments! Quality comments! We viewed the clip (below) to discover what other children our age believe about quality comments.

Quality Comments

After watching the clips, we came up with some important information about blogging and blogging comments.

Over the next few weeks, we are going to explore writing some quality comments using the guide in the photos above.

We are hoping to get some comments on our blog from both our parent and the wider learning community online.

Here is our class poster to help us through the quality blogging comment process.

We would like to acknowledge the work of teachers Kath Morris & Linda Yollis for supporting our blogging journey by sharing your own learning online.

3A to the Rescue – Superhero Narratives

3A have been working very hard on their narratives this term. As a class we have looked at hooking our audience in right from the start, describing characters and settings in some detail using interesting adjectives, and exploring similes, metaphor and personification to add interest to our stories.

To listen to their narratives, you will need a QR Reader. You can use the following link to download a free QR Code Scan App from iTunes: i-nigma

Feel free to leave us a comment. We’d love some!  Happy reading!

Eureka!

Matthew had a go at writing his first superhero story this week. Check it out below! See if you can can hear the similes he has used throughout his story!

What was your favourite part of Matthew’s narrative? Would you like to climb up a building with magnetic boots? Wouldn’t that be fun!
